Special Education
Our Special Education Department recognizes that every student has unique individual needs. We believe that all children are capable of learning and being successful in school experiences. We enhance learning by providing research-based intervention, engage students with innovative practices, and empower them to reach their highest potential. We provide programs that are designed to develop academic, social, behavioral, emotional, and independence skills needed for every student. We provide equitable opportunities for students
with disabilities to succeed and become contributing members of society.
Plymouth Canton-Community Schools Shall:

Provide ongoing "child find" services, in compliance with federal and state regulations, designed to identify students from birth to age 26 who have a disability and are in need of special education and related services.
-
Provide a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) for all students with disabilities who are identified under IDEA, in compliance with federal and state regulations.
-
Ensure the development and implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), based upon assessed needs, for each student who is identified as having a disability and who is in need of special education and related services. The IEP shall be reasonably designed to ensure progress in the educational program.
